Chris Daetwyler

Chris Daetwyler serves as Programs Manager for the South Carolina Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Alliance, a post he assumed in March 2009. He previously held the position of Staff Specialist for SCHFCA from November 2007 to March 2009. His profound interest is in national Energy security and independence accompanied by a desire to strengthen the state’s economy and improve the environment provides him with great passion for advancing the goals of the SCHFCA and its partners.

Born in Columbia, but raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Chris returned to South Carolina in the summer of 2001 to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration at the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business. He majored in economics and insurance/risk management. In addition to the regular course load, he participated in several academic honor societies, the 2007 USC Consulting Competition, and was selected to represent the Moore School at the 2007 Risk and Insurance Management Society’s National Conference. He has been recognized with several academic awards including the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of South Carolina Scholarship.

During his final semester at the University, Chris participated in an Internship with the South Carolina Energy Office. The experience at the SC Energy Office provided him with the opportunity to learn about and participate in the energy industry. While at the Energy Office he wrote South Carolina Utility Demand Side Management and System Overview 2006, a quantitative assessment of electric and gas utilities’ output in the state.

Chris and his wife Rachel reside in Columbia.
